Marlboro maker Altria Group Inc. is launching its first electronic cigarette under the MarkTen brand in Indiana starting in August. The owner of the nation’s biggest cigarette maker, Philip Morris USA, announced the details of its NuMark subsidiary’s foray into the fast-growing business Tuesday. It’s the last of the nation’s major tobacco companies to market the battery-powered devices that heat a liquid nicotine solution, creating vapor that users inhale. Altria Group says MarkTen is both a disposable e-cigarette but can be reused by buying a separate charging kit and additional cartridges. It says the product’s “Four Draw” technology provides a more consistent user experience. Richmond, Va.-based Altria also plans to expand its Verve nicotine discs in Virginia and debut a chewing gum containing tobacco in Denmark through a joint venture.
