Man shot after opening fire on officers in Virginia

EMPORIA, Va. (AP) — Authorities say a man was shot and wounded when he charged out of a home in Virginia with a firearm in each hand, shooting at law enforcement officers. Virginia State Police said in a statement Monday that Emporia police went to a home Sunday looking for a suspect in a shooting. Greensville County Sheriff’s deputies and state police arrived to help. Construction begins on downtown Roanoke Amtrak platform

The Roanoke Times reports crews began their work Monday. Judge grants injunction against Trump travel ban in Virginia

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — A federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction barring the Trump administration from implementing its travel ban in Virginia, adding another judicial ruling to those already in place challenging the ban’s constitutionality. A federal appeals court in California has already upheld a national temporary restraining order stopping the government from implementing the ban, which is directed at seven Muslim-majority countries. VDOT WILL IMPROVE BRIDGE ON ROUTE 607

FREDERICKSBURG  –  The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will soon begin work to improve the condition of a structurally deficient bridge over a stream on Route 607 (Guinea Station Road) in Caroline County. Fairfax police find human remains near industrial park

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Fairfax police say human remains were found during a search for a missing juvenile. Police say detectives from the Franconia Police District Major Crimes Unit are investigating after remains of a female were discovered in the 7100 block of Wimsatt Road in Springfield during a sweep of the area on Saturday.
