Charges dropped against man charged in triple shooting

(Information from: The Virginian-Pilot, NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Prosecutors in Virginia have dropped charges in a triple shooting that one of the victims recorded on Facebook Live. The Virginian-Pilot reports that all charges against Tony Angelo Roundtree have been dropped a few weeks before his trial was scheduled to start. Amanda Howie is a spokeswoman for the Norfolk commonwealth’s attorney’s office. She told the newspaper Wednesday that investigators discovered information “that puts us in the position to not go forward.” No further specifics were released. RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Gov.-elect Ralph Northam has appointed Virginia’s next Secretary of Natural Resources and the next Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry. Northam announced Thursday that Matt Strickler will be his Secretary of Natural Resources. Bettina Ring will be the next Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry. Strickler serves as senior policy adviser to the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources. Treading dangerously: Lax safety inside Goodyear tire plants

An investigation by Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting finds that Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has ranked among the top five manufacturers for worker deaths since 2009. Four died at the Danville, Virginia plant in one year. Production demands and leaky roofs at two plants endangered workers and contributed to consumer risks. (AP) — The Ohio man accused of ramming a car into a crowd of people protesting a white nationalist rally this summer in Charlottesville has had his most serious charge upgraded to first-degree murder.
