VDOT CREWS MAKING PROGRESS ON PRIMARY, SECONDARY ROADS

Road conditions are improving at midday on primary and high-volume secondary roads across the Fredericksburg District as Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews concentrated this morning on plowing and treating routes carrying heavy traffic. With a greater number of these roads now passable, crews and equipment are beginning to enter subdivisions and low-volume secondary streets in residential areas. Around 500 trucks are deployed districtwide. Crews are applying sand and salt to reduce icing and improve traction. Road conditions vary across the 14-county district. Westmoreland County Public Schools kicked off a partnership with Anonymous Alerts, the anti-bullying and safety reporting system app on October 23, 2017.  The anonymous 2-way communications system empowers students to quickly and anonymously report bullying, cyber bullying, peer pressure, drug/alcohol usage, family issues, or any other student safety concerns to school officials.
