Community Book Study @ Lancaster Community Library
    Apr 24 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Women’s Stories – A Community Book Study begins April 10, 2024, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Community Library. For four consecutive Wednesdays, participants will enjoy an informal discussion of From Widows to Warriors (Women’s Stories from the Old Testament) by Lynn Japinga. Sallie Dashiell of Campbell Presbyterian and Susan Riley May of St. Andrews Presbyterian will lead the discussion in this ecumenical study. No registration is required.

The women of the Bible are complex, multidimensional individuals whose lives are inspiring, funny, and tragic in ways too many of us never hear. From flawed heroes like Ruth and Rahab to fierce fighters like Deborah and Jael, to tragic characters like Jephthah’s daughter and the unnamed concubine of the book of Judges, readers will encounter a wealth of foremothers in the faith in all their messy, yet redeemable, humanity. This book study introduces and retells every female character who contributes to one or more Old Testament stories, diving deeply into what each woman’s story means for us today with questions for reflection and discussion.

The group will meet from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on April 10, 17, 24 and May 1 at Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Dr, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.

For questions about the book study, call the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church office at 804-435-3948.
