Deputies investigating a Caroline County larceny case ended up making a marijuana find.

The incident happened Thursday during the larceny investigation along Fredericksburg Turnpike in Woodford, according to the Caroline Sheriff’s Office. Deputies went to one home to ask if the residents had seen anything suspicious and noticed a strong odor of marijuana. Then they noticed two people running from the home and into the woods.

Investigators and drug dogs then searched the property.

They found more than 200 marijuana plants “that were being grown in several sophisticated and elaborate buildings on the property, designed for hydroponic (soil-less) growing,” according to the Caroline release.
