HENRICO, Va. (AP) — The first solar farm could be coming to Henrico County.

Roger Bowers is an attorney for Briel Farm Solar, LLC. He tells The Richmond Times-Dispatch that the company is proposing to use 93 acres of land in eastern Henrico to build a farm that could power about 5,000 homes.

The Henrico County Planning Commission has endorsed the project. The county’s Board of Supervisors still needs to sign off on it. The company also has to get approval from the county’s board of zoning appeals for a conditional use permit.

Briel Farm has other solar projects in Virginia, Maryland and Delaware.
