squads in Middlesex was a hot topic of discussion on Thursday, March 2, at


the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad (MCVRS) building in




MCVRS president Randy Crittenden explained that Middlesex Emergency


Services Coordinator Mark Nugent was coming that night to address


concerns of members that the county was going to take over the Hartfield


squad location with paid personnel. The Hartfield station is a branch of the




Crittenden said it is not the county’s intention to take over the operation of


the Hartfield station, but county officials are looking for a remedy to help


the Central Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad (CMVRS) in Urbanna


provide 24-hour, 7-day-a-week service for the residents of the central and
western parts of the county.
