FREDERICKSBURG – Route 604 (Herring Creek Road) in King William County is scheduled to re-open to traffic at Dorrell Creek on the evening of Tuesday, May 15.

Construction work is anticipated to be finished Tuesday evening on a project to replace deteriorated corrugated metal drainage pipes underneath the road. Herring Creek Road has been closed to through traffic at Dorrell Creek since Monday, March 26. Crews have installed new concrete drainage pipes and end walls.

On Friday, May 11, and Saturday, May 12, construction crews will finish grading the road. New asphalt will be applied in the work zone area on Monday, May 14.

An average of 220 vehicles travel Herring Creek Road daily, according to a 2016 Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) traffic count.
