Christchurch School Senior Football Players, Steven Silianos (Gloucester) and Jamar Darboe (Kinston, NC), made their NCAA Division I commitments this morning. Stilianos committed to Lafayette College (Patriot League) and Darboe committed to Coastal Carolina University (Sun Belt Conference). Both players helped the Seahorses to a VISAA Division II State Championship on Saturday November 18, 2017.

As freshmen, Darboe and Stilianos played in Christchurch School’s appearance in the state championship, but ultimately lost to Fredericksburg Christian. This year, they vowed to finish the deal and bring the trophy back to Christchurch. These road warriors defeated #1 ranked Blue Ridge School and then traveled to Norfolk Christian for the finals, where they accomplished their goal.

These four-year players earned VISAA All-State recognition. Stilianos was a First Team All-State Defensive End and Second Team Quarterback, and was selected as the VISAA State and VA Preps Player of the Year. Darboe, who fielded multiple Division I offers, was selected First Team All-State as a Running Back and Linebacker.
