A plantation house where two of President Thomas Jefferson’s daughters lived is getting a makeover. The Eppington Plantation house in Chesterfield County is slated to get a new roof, gutters and front porch supports, and other repairs. The project also includes weather-proofing the house. Stuart Connock with Chesterfield County’s parks and recreation department tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch that $200,000 has been budgeted for the work. The Eppington Foundation will pay half the cost. Repairs could begin later this year. Frances Epps VI built the house near the Appomattox River in the late 18th century. Jefferson’s daughter, Lucy, is buried on the property but the county says a grave marker has never been found.
