The Martinsville Henry County Chamber of Commerce is trying to do something to battle high unemployment. The chamber is hosting a job fair Wednesday. There are about 1,500 job openings, with about a third of the positions being full time. Chamber of Commerce President Amanda Witt says some smaller manufacturing companies in the area are expanding and are looking for new employees. WSLS-TV reports the job fair is taking place at the National Guard Armory in Martinsville. Martinsville’s 14 percent jobless rate remains the highest in Virginia.
