Meeting on Boxwood Blight

Boxwood BlightHomeowners and landscaping companies have the chance to learn more about a disease that harms boxwood plants. A meeting on boxwood blight will be held Thursday night at the Virginia Department of Forestry office in Galax. The disease was first detected in Virginia in Carroll County in 2011 and has since been found in Chesterfield County. It results in the defoliation and dieback of boxwoods. The meeting is being conducted by the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Virginia Cooperative Extension. Among the topics of discussion are control and management options and the disease’s impact on the nursery and landscaping industries.
