After two years of winter operation at the First Baptist Church of Loretto,

members of the Essex County Homeless Organization’s Board of Directors voted

to move the homeless shelter’s location to Tappahannock.

The ECHO Board realized in order to provide temporary, emergency shelter

when temperatures drop to deadly lows, the shelter needed to serve the

homeless where they are.

Through a tax-deductible gift, purchase, or a combination of both, ECHO hopes

to acquire a vacant building within walking distance of the Tappahannock Wal-

Mart. The shelter will be named “Gregory House” in honor of the late Dr John

Gregory.

ECHO is seeking partnerships with other civic, charitable, service-oriented

groups in the Middle-Peninsula and Northern Neck to help raise funds for the

purchase, refurbishing, and operation of an appropriate space in Tappahannock.

The Essex County Homeless Organization is a 501(c)(3) community-based

charitable organization run entirely by volunteers.

If you would like to donate – anything from your time to your vacant, available

building – call 804-803-5463 or e-mail 804echo@gmail.com.
