KING WILLIAM CO., Va. – On Tuesday (January 9, 2018), at approximately 10:22 a.m., the Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash with fatality at westbound Globe Road, .3 miles east of Mitchell Mill Road, in King William County.

The Trooper’s preliminary investigation shows that a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Cynthia Leigh Lapierre, 35, of Aylett, Va., was traveling westbound on Globe Road, lost control of the vehicle running off road left.  Lapierre then veered back onto the roadway right, hitting a culvert pipe forcing the vehicle to flip onto its driver side and hitting a tree.

Lapierre succumbed to her injuries at the scene.   Five children were passengers in the vehicle.  Three were transported to the hospital for the treatment of minor injuries and two were transported for serious injuries.  Everyone was wearing their seatbelt and or was properly restrained in a child safety seat.

Icy roadway conditions are being considered a factor in the crash.  The crash remains under investigation.
