FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Fredericksburg police say a person relic hunting in a heavily wooded area of the city found the remains of a woman who had been missing for nearly six months.
Police said in a statement Tuesday that the medical examiner’s office identified the remains as those of 32-year-old Rochelle Simms of Fredericksburg. She was reported missing on October 26.
The statement says the exact location where the remains were found Saturday is not being disclosed because detectives are continuing to process and collect evidence.
Police say Simms’ cause of death is unknown and an investigation is ongoing.
