The National Weather Service said that it was a tornado that struck Irvington

on Thursday afternoon and the damage caused after that was from straight

 

line winds in Lancaster County.

 

County officials report that at least 4 areas of debris in the Town of

 

Kilmarnock and Irvington.

 

Damage stretched from the Town of Irvington to Rappahannock

 

Westminster-Canterbury and Old Salem Road. Lot of the damage reported

 

by eyewitnesses was power lines and trees down.

 

Rappahannock General Hospital reported windows blowned out in the front

 

lobby and cafeteria area and tree damage around the hospital.  

 

High winds blew down trees and knocked out power to some 3400

 

customers in the Kilmarnock and Irvington area.

 

The Tides Inn was without power and sent all of their guest home. They will

 

try to reopen today (Friday) sometime.

 

There are no reports of injuries.

 

Also Richmond County received damage near Haynesville at Correctional

 

Unit 17 with trees and either power poles or telephone poles were snapped
off.
