VA Dept. of Ag Commissioner stepping down

The commissioner of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is stepping down in December. Commissioner Matthew J. Lohrannounced Tuesday he would be leaving the job he’s held since May 2010 to serve as director of the Farm Credit of the Virginias Knowledge Center in Harrisonburg. Lohr said the center’s mission is to promote the sharing of knowledge and resources among farmers. Agriculture and Forestry Secretary Todd Haymore said Gov. Bob McDonnell will soon announce a leadership team transition plan for the department. McDonnell is in the final 2 1/2 months of his administration.
