Heavy rains with high winds on trees and power lines has resulted in scattered power outages across NNEC’s service territory. Most of the outages are in King George County, Westmoreland County, and in Northumberland County due to a broken pole on Knight’s Run Road. At this time approximately 746 members are without power. Unfortunately scattered outages may continue to occur as the storm is not expected to move out until tomorrow. Linemen are working to get electric service restored to all members as soon as possible today.
NNEC wants to remind its members to be prepared in case of a power outage. If you use a portable generator, make sure it is connected according to local safety codes and CANNOT backfeed power onto the power lines!
Stay away from any downed power line, tree on the line or anything touching a line. Notify NNEC of any downed power lines, trees on the line, or a power outage by calling 1-866-NNEC OUT (866-663-2688).
NNEC is the member-owned cooperative serving over 18,800 homes and businesses in Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond, Westmoreland, King George and Stafford Counties. Visit www.nnec.coop for more information about NNEC.
