A 9-year-old boy swimming with his family on Saturday drowned between James River Park Pony Pasture and the Meadows.
More than 25 Richmond fire personnel and additional police and ambulance personnel responded to the scene.
In June 2020, a 45-year-old man died after being rescued from the James River near Pony Pasture.
