Four people, including three Virginia residents, pleaded guilty last week in an illegal duck-hunting operation that involved baiting a Middleburg pond in violation of federal law, resulting in dozens of dead migratory wood ducks.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia said Michael Scott, 36, of Purcellville; Eric Scott, 29, of Hillsboro; Christian Hoyt, 39, of Lovettsville; and taxidermist Timothy Young, 48, of Frederick, Maryland, all were barred from hunting for 18 months and fined up to $1,000 for hunting ducks over a baited area.
