The Kilmarnock Police Department has arrested a 17 year-old juvenile on charges of destruction of property and arson.
These charges stem from the fire and vandalism of multiple buildings which occurred on May 31st at the Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department carnival grounds on Waverly Avenue.
Officials say that the bingo stand building was damaged and two children’s rides which were stored inside were destroyed.
According to the carnival president, the building and contents were insured, and many residents have come forward wanting to donate to rebuild this Northern Neck Tradition. The 89th carnival is set to begin on Thursday, July 25th and run through August 3rd.
