After more than 45 years of service to Northern Neck Electric Cooperative (NNEC), the cooperative has announced that Hunter Greenlaw, Jr. has retired from the board of directors as of September 16, 2024. In accordance with NNEC’s bylaws, Russell G. “Rusty” Brown, vice chairman, will assume the duties and responsibilities of the chairman until an election by the board.
A native of Stafford County, Virginia, Greenlaw was first appointed to NNEC’s board of directors in 1979. In 2018, he was elected Chairman of the board. Greenlaw has also served on the board for Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) since 1992. He is also president for GLMG, Inc., general contractors. With a background in real estate development, finance, and marketing, Greenlaw has played a pivotal role in shaping the cooperative’s success.
“On behalf of the entire Board and executive management team, I want to thank Hunter for his decades of service and his thoughtful leadership. His vision and guidance have been instrumental in shaping NNEC into the cooperative it is today,” said Brad Hicks, president and CEO of NNEC. “I look forward to working with Rusty as we continue to build on that strong foundation. His deep knowledge of the cooperative and his strong leadership skills will be crucial as we continue to serve our members.”
“Hunter has been a dedicated leader of the Board and working alongside him has been a great honor,” said Rusty Brown. “We will continue his legacy of service and leadership.”
NNEC’s board of directors is elected by the members and governs the not-for-profit, member-owned utility.
