The heart transplant program at Richmond’s Veterans Administration hospital has been suspended for more than a year.
The move came shortly after employees of the Richmond VA Medical Center, formerly named after Hunter Holmes McGuire, expressed concerns to leadership around the safety of its longtime transplant program. The issues were raised in July 2023.
