The Virginia Department of Corrections confirmed that 26 year-old Guatemalan national inmate Axel Wilfredo Ortiz Garcia who is a “confirmed affiliate” of MS-13 is the accused of another stabbing at Greensville Correctional Center.
Ortiz Garcia is accused of stabbing two correctional officers last Tuesday. The incident is still under investigation.
Ortiz Garcia, who has maximum security status, was being temporarily detained at Greensville due to a court order from Sussex Circuit Court related to his prosecution for an incident at Sussex 1 State Prison.
He is accused in the April 2024 attack on another correctional officer and the fatal stabbing of K-9 Rivan, according to the DOC.
