President-elect Donald Trump made abolishing the U.S. Department of Education a key part of his platform and, if the plan were realized, it would have significant impacts on schools in Virginia and across the U.S.
Virginia officials in both parties said it’s unlikely to happen, though many were reluctant to comment on the record. Eliminating the agency would require approval from Congress.
