LANCASTER, Va. – At the request of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Office, the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Richmond Field Office, is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Monday night (Nov. 12, 2024) in Lancaster County.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. Monday, a Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a pursuit after the driver of a 2004 Grand Marquis, a 44-year-old male from Merry Point, Va., shot and seriously wounded another man, who was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

At this stage of the ongoing investigation, it has been determined that the male driver confronted the officers with a firearm and shot at them. A Lancaster Sheriff’s Office deputy discharged their weapon. The driver was struck once and suffered a non-life-threatening injury.

No law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident, which remains under investigation.
