A Republican congressman who represents much of the Richmond suburbs is questioning the Trump administration’s gutting of the federal education department and urging congressional oversight.
The U.S. Department of Education this week laid off more than 1,300 of its employees — a prelude to President Donald Trump’s intention to dismantle the department.
