The Bay Rivers Telehealth Alliance (BRTA) has been awarded the 2025 Outstanding Rural Health Organization by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). This national recognition celebrates BRTA’s commitment to expanding healthcare access and improving health outcomes in rural communities across Virginia.

BRTA is a nonprofit regional telehealth network that brings together healthcare providers, educational institutions, public health agencies, and community-based organizations to bridge gaps in care throughout the Middle Peninsula, Northern Neck, and Eastern Shore. Through innovation, access and collaboration, BRTA leads initiatives to expand telehealth, strengthen the healthcare workforce, and improve behavioral health and substance use services in underserved areas.

Their alliance includes valued members and partners such as: Bay Aging, Eastern Shore Community Services Board, Eastern Shore Rural Health Services, Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University, Ledwith-Lewis Free Clinic, Master Center for Addiction Medicine, Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Behavioral Health, Northen Neck Middlesex Free Health Clinic, Rappahannock Community College, Riverside Health System, Three Rivers Health District and Eastern Shore Health District, Virginia Career Works – Bay Consortium Region, and VCU Health System Tappahannock Hospital.
