On Friday June 27 things are going to get a little Wild and Wacky at the Tappahannock Art Gallery on Prince St. From 5 to 7 p.m. the gallery will host an array of artists displaying all things wild and wacky. Fifteen artists have contributed works in both two and three dimensions to stimulate your imagination, make you laugh, or cause you to think about things just a little differently.

In contrast to a show intended only to display artwork, a juried show is a competition in which the artists’ work is judged by a person or panel of persons convened specifically to judge the participants’ efforts. The jury usually presents awards based on specific criteria for the competition. For this show, Gloucester resident and award-winning artist Juli Schuszler will make the show selections and award the prizes. (https://julischuszler.com)

TAG hosts a juried show once a year, usually in the summer. It is open to members and non-members alike, local artists as well as those from other communities. This means art lovers have a chance to meet artists from other communities. It’s also a good way for an artist to test the waters with a different audience and, who knows?, maybe win one of the prizes. TAG offers five cash awards: First ($300), Second ($125), Third ($75) places, and two Merit awards ($25). So join us on Friday June 27th from 5 to 7pm to discover who the winners are. See if you agree with the judge. Enjoy seeing just how Wild and Wacky art can be.

Remember, this opening is part of Date Night in Tappahannock, a progressive party that starts with wine tasting at Act XII Wine & Provisions. It continues across the street at Fitzgeralds, then continue down Prince Street a few blocks to take in new original art at Tappahannock Art Gallery, then stroll around the corner for dinner at 1710 Tavern. Everyone at TAG is looking forward to seeing you on Friday, June 27th!
