FREDERICKSBURG – Travelers crossing the Robert O. Norris, Jr., Bridge will encounter midday delays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, for maintenance work.
Route 3 over the Rappahannock River between Lancaster and Middlesex counties will be reduced to a single lane in the work zone.
Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews will retrieve a small piece of metal debris, estimated to be several inches long, that is resting on top of a bridge pier.
Automated flagging devices will direct traffic through the work zone. Flagging crew members operate the devices, which can be adjusted to respond to congestion or incidents on the bridge.
Updates will be available on 511.vdot.virginia.gov. Travelers can also download the free mobile 511Virginia app, or call 511 from any phone in Virginia.
