FREDERICKSBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), in partnership with King William County and the Town of West Point, will hold a public meeting from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, to share potential improvements recommended by a transportation study of Route 30 (King William Avenue).
The study evaluated safety for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians along Route 30 between Mount Olive Cohoke Road and Route 33, as well as traffic congestion and access management. This study is part of VDOT’s Strategically Targeted and Affordable Roadway Solutions (STARS) program.
Public comment was sought at the beginning of the Route 30 study in spring 2025 to learn more about traveler experiences. The purpose of this study is to develop concepts for future potential project funding applications. Draft recommendations are being presented for public comment before the study report is finalized. The study does not propose construction timelines for any future potential improvements.
An in-person public information meeting will be held:
*Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025
5 – 7 p.m.
West Point Branch Library
433 12th Street
West Point, VA 23181
*In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at the same time and location.
