Democratic legislators on Monday kicked off an effort to redraw Virginia’s Congressional districts after Republicans questioned whether they had the power to do so.
To do so would require a constitutional amendment to get around the bipartisan redistricting commission that Virginians approved in a 2020 referendum. That constitutional amendment, which Virginia voters backed nearly 2-to-1, says the bipartisan commission is to draw new boundaries each 10 years after the U.S. Census.
