REEDVILLE — Christmas in Reedville festivities will be held in the village Dec. 6. The events are sponsored by the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main St., and Bethany Methodist Church next door.

Here is the schedule for the holiday season and beyond.

Dec. 6:

3 p.m.: Santa arrives at the museum dock on the classic boat Elva C.

3:15 p.m.: Visit the museum’s model trains with the conductor from “The Polar Express” and Buddy from “Elf.” (Trains run from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.)

3:30 p.m.: Cookies and milk with Santa will be served at Bethany Church, with a photo opportunity with Santa, the conductor and Buddy.

5 p.m.: The community’s crab basket tree will be lighted at the museum’s Watermen’s Park, the grassy lot on Main Street just down from Festival Halle (which is at 177 Main St.)

If you want to decorate a basket for the tree, pick up a basket from the museum for $15, take it home, paint your own design in acrylic paint, and return it to the museum by Dec. 1.

Dec. 14: 3 p.m. Bethany Church will hold its Festival Chorale Christmas Concert.

Museum hours and train schedules through 2025:

Museum: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays except closed Nov. 14, 15 and 27 and Dec. 25.

Trains: 10 a.m.-noon Thursdays (except Nov. 27 and Dec. 25); 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28 and 29; and Saturdays in December (6, 13, 20 and 27.)

The museum will close for the season Dec. 27, but will sponsor a movie or speaker in January, February and March 2026. Each will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department meeting room. The schedule:

Jan. 5: Movie: “The Sinking of the Fenwick Island.”

Feb. 2: Book talk and signings: Tom Briggs, “War on the Inland Sea,” and Susan Swift and Heather Cockrell, “The ABCs of Oystering on the Chesapeake Bay.”

March 3: Book talk and signing: Joseph W. Smith, “Menhaden.”

The museum will reopen April 4, the same day as the Easter in Reedville celebration.
