What:

  • 84th annual ceremony to honor and remember all Virginians and Americans killed on December 7, 1941 during surprise attack on US forces at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
  • Attack resulted in United States entering World War II against Japan, Germany, Italy and other Axis powers.
  • Names of all Virginians who died during attack will be read with tolling of ship’s bell from USS Virginia.
  • Memorial wreaths will be presented.
  • Patriotic music performed.
  • Ceremony co-hosted by Navy League of the United States, Richmond Council.
  • Virginians at War film, Pearl Harbor, will be shown continuously all day in Memorial’s Reynolds Theater
  • Public invited and encouraged to attend.

  • Public should arrive for event by 1:45 p.m.
  • Virginia War Memorial open to public from 12 noon – 4 p.m. ET. No admission charge.
