FREDERICKSBURG – Route 614 (Rock Spring Road) in King and Queen County is now open after the completion of a bridge replacement project over Exol Swamp.
Rock Spring Road closed in Feb. 2025 for the bridge replacement project. The new bridge is 74 feet long and 27 feet wide. The travel lanes on the new bridge are approximately 11 feet wide, with 1.5-foot shoulders. The previous structure was built in 1965 and was approximately 51 feet long and 24 feet wide. The new bridge is open to vehicles of all legal weights.
The 12-mile long detour has been removed.
An average of 130 vehicles a day travel on Rock Spring Road.
