he University of Virginia Board of Visitors on Friday named Scott Beardsley, dean of the Darden School of Business, as the school’s 10th president.
Twelve board members named by outgoing Gov. Glenn Youngkin picked the new president, spurning a request from Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger to pause the search until she takes office Jan. 17 and can nominate five members to fill out the board.
The Board of Visitors said in a statement that its vote was unanimous. Beardsley assumes the post Jan. 1.
