Stratford, Virginia (December 22, 2025) – Stratford Hall Historic Preserve has updated and reinstalled its Road to Revolution Heritage Trail and Civil War Trails markers. Previously separated along the path to the Great House and requiring admission to view, both markers are now freely accessible via Stratford Hall Road (VA-214). Stratford Hall’s Research and Collections Department began planning this project over a year ago as part of NNK250 Semiquincentennial efforts to update and expand the reach of historical markers throughout the Northern Neck region. The installation work was completed by Civil War Trails, with grant funding from the Jessie Ball duPont Fund supporting the Road to Revolution sign.
“These updated historical markers offer expanded and essential histories of Stratford Hall’s people and past—within view of the iconic Great House and bucolic landscape that shaped the lives of these early residents,” offered Stratford Hall President Karen Daly. “We’re thrilled to share this history with expanded numbers of visitors and community members—at no cost to the viewer—in this new location on Stratford Hall Road.”
Stratford Hall is one of twenty-two Road to Revolution Heritage Trail sites in Virginia and one of over 1,500 Civil War Trail sites across six states.
