Virginia State Police report that a 71 year old Northern Virginia man lost his life in a two-vehicle crash in at at the intersection of Route 200 (Irvington Road) and Route 646 (Christ Church Road in Lancaster County just before noon on Friday, May 15, when a 2021 Mercedes-Benz SUV, driven by Jeffrey William Cole failed to yield the right of way at the four-way stop intersection and was struck by a southbound pckup driven by a Lancaster County man. Cole died at a hospital.
The driver of the truck and a passenger in the Mercedes-Benz were not injured. All three were wearing their seat belts.
Also, Virginia State Police report that a 41 year old Spottsylvania man died in a single vehicle crash involving an ATV on Saturday, May 16th that occured on Rose Tucker Road, approximately one-half mile west of Tucker Hill Road in Westmoreland County. Police say a 2022 Can-Am four-wheeler traveling east on Rose Tucker Road ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a tree, and came to rest in the roadway.
The driver, Melvin Jerome-Sterling Lawson, 41, of Spotsylvania County, was ejected from the ATV and pronounced deceased at the scene.
