The Tappahannock Rotary Big Fish Tournament will take place Saturday, June 27 from 7:00am to 4:30pm.  There will be $1,000 prizes for the largest fish in each of 4 categories. Croaker, Spot, Snakehead, and Catfish. The fishing area is the Rappahannock River and its tributaries from the Norris Bridge to Port Royal. Go to rotarybigfish.com to register and for more information.  There will also be $100  prizes in the youth category for the same species of fish. Bring the family for a fun day of fishing. Join us for the weigh in at the Tappahannock Warsaw Moose Lodge on Dock Street at 4:30 where hamburgers and hotdogs will be served as we wait for the winners to be announced.
This is a big fundraising event for the Tappahannock Rotary Club.
The Tappahannock Rotary Club has recently become the proud sponsor of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for Essex County. The Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program was started in 1995 and has since grown from a local program in Tennessee  to a world wide outreach program to provide quality books for preschool children. The families of Essex County, through the Rotary Club of Tappahannock, are now able to access this resource. Through this program the parent of any child from age 0 to age 5 living in Essex County can go to the website to sign up.
Each child will receive, in the mail free of charge, 1 book a month. The goal is to provide age appropriate books for each child and to inspire a love of reading.
Go to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to sign up. Click on the “check availability” button to start the sign up process.
Our goal is to sign up every child in this age group in Essex County which should be around 500 children. We started the program here in November of 2025 and to date we have signed up 76 children. The Essex Public Library has a QR code posted at the front desk to make sign up even easier.
