A local police officer has been recognized for his work to prevent ‘grand theft auto’ from happening in real life.
The Virginia State Police Help Eliminate Auto Theft Program has recognized law enforcement agencies and officers from across the Commonwealth for their outstanding efforts in preventing and investigating motor vehicle theft and the theft of vehicle parts. Each year, the HEAT Awards are presented during two ceremonies. This year, the first was held Aug. 31 in Roanoke, with the second taking place Sept. 16 in Virginia Beach. Locally, Officer Paul Carson, of the Warsaw Police Department, won the “Individual” category for departments serving populations of fewer than 5,000.
