FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — BrilliT, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC), has been named a 2026 POWER Best Places to Work, marking the second consecutive year the company has earned the industry workplace recognition.
POWER partners with Best Companies Group to recognize outstanding workplaces in the power industry. The selection process includes employer and employee surveys covering leadership, communication, benefits, work-life balance and professional development.
“This recognition reflects the culture our employees have built – one that is rooted in teamwork, collaboration and a shared commitment to excellence,” said Peter Muhoro, Ph.D., REC’s Chief Strategy, Technology and Innovation Officer and BrilliT’s Executive Vice President and General Manager. “That cooperative spirit is reflected not only in how our employees support one another, but also in how they serve REC and other electric cooperatives through cybersecurity, information technology and data analytics.”
BrilliT grew from REC’s internal information technology organization and today serves utilities beyond the Cooperative, combining firsthand knowledge of the electric utility industry with expertise in cybersecurity, technology infrastructure management and data analytics.
The POWER recognition is the latest workplace honor for BrilliT. Earlier this year, Virginia Business magazine ranked BrilliT No. 20 among small employers on its 2026 Best Places to Work in Virginia list.
BrilliT employees have also received industry recognition for their work in utility analytics. The Utility Analytics Institute has honored REC’s and BrilliT’s data and analytics professionals for their innovation and leadership in the field.
The 2026 POWER Best Places to Work honorees will be recognized Sept. 28 during Experience POWER in Washington, D.C. The winners will also be featured in the December issue of POWER magazine.
