Your next electric bill from Dominion Energy will look a bit different — with charts to track electric use over time and how it relates to the weather and the year before — as well as a QR code that provides a new way of paying, if you like.

It will still break out how much of the total covers the cost of spinning the generators that produce the electricity you use, the fuel they burn and the wires that carry it to you, but it merges some of the details about riders — those “non bypassable charges” listed on the right hand column of its old-style bills — into the line labeled “electricity supply charges.”

Dominion believes the new bills make the most important information — the amount due and when its due date — easier to find.
