Legislators from both parties, joined by Virginia’s top economic development official, called for a $160 million funding increase to clear a waiting list of more than 10,000 children who could get child care if their families had a bit of financial help.
The money would add 12,000 slots for children from families with income at or below 85% of the state’s median income.
