Virginia Military Institute will not renew the current contract of Maj. Gen. Cedric Wins, the first Black superintendent in the institute’s 186-year history, when it expires on June 30.
The VMI Board of Visitors voted 10-6 on Friday against renewing Wins’ four-year contract.
