FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 604 (Herring Creek Road) in King William County reopened to through traffic this afternoon after a Virginia Department of Transportation project to repair the bridge over Herring Creek was completed.
Crews were addressing bridge scour, which is the erosion of soil around a bridge’s foundation. Addressing the scour improves the bridge condition and ensures it remains open to carry vehicles of all weights.
The bridge has been closed since late December 2023 for maintenance repairs.
