A Charles City County sheriff’s deputy died on Sunday afternoon after he experienced a medical emergency as a result of a physical altercation with a person.
Authorities said Charles City County Sgt. Floyd H. Miles Jr. — a U.S. Army veteran and a 16-year member of the Sheriff’s Office — had responded to the back of an ambulance to assist another deputy and emergency first responders with a combative subject.
