The Christchurch School varsity soccer team won the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) Division II State Soccer Championship last night at Segra Field in Leesburg.
The team finished the regular season ranked #1 in VISAA Division II. On Monday, November 4, they hosted the division quarterfinals, defeating Virginia Academy 2-0 to advance to the semifinals.
In a quick turnaround, the team then traveled to Segra Field for the semifinals, defeating #4-ranked Blue Ridge 3-1 to earn a championship berth.
On Monday, November 11, the Seahorses defeated the Seton Hall Conquistadors (Manassas, VA) 2-0 for the crown.
To support the team, the school consolidated its academic schedule on Monday to allow fans to travel to the match.
Christchurch transported more than 150 students and faculty to the venue in Northern Virginia, to support the team. Head of School Billy Coyle covered the $10 entrance tickets for all students, faculty and staff who traveled to the game.
