Tappahannock, Virginia — Dine at six Historic Downtown Tappahannock restaurants from April 19-28, 2024 for a chance to win a $500 Downtown Dollars gift card.

Download the free “Historic Downtown Tappahannock” smartphone app from the Apple App Store or on Google Play. Next, make plans to eat a meal at each of the six participating restaurants in Historic Downtown Tappahannock during the 10 days of the promotion. They are:

  • Acme Ice Cream Parlor — Brownie sundaes, 36 hand-dipped flavors, milkshakes, soft serve and hotdogs
  • 528 Prime Steak & Seafood — Traditional steakhouse with a modern twist and fresh seafood
  • Java Jacks Café — Iconic breakfast and lunch stop. Try the beignet Jacks!
  • NN Burger — Freakshakes, craft beer and the best burgers
  • 1710 Tavern — Fine dining, casual dining and a bar experience you won’t forget
  • To-Do Café — Traditional favorites and fresh seafood at a local staple

To be eligible for the gift card, patrons must check in on the Historic Downtown Tappahannock app on their smartphone while at any of the six restaurants. Earn one entry into the gift card drawing for each restaurant visited (one entry maximum per location). One gift card winner will be selected via random drawing on April 30, 2024 and notified by email. Check in and dine at all six locations for your best chance to win!

The gift card can be used with all merchants enrolled in the Downtown Dollars program. Businesses that accept Downtown Dollars range from gift shops, Essex County Museum, hair salons and more. See the growing list at downtowntappahannock.org/giftcardtapp/; merchants are added as they join.

To check in at a participating restaurant:

  1. Open the Historic Downtown Tappahannock app.
  2. Under Challenges, tap the Dine for Dollars Contest image.
  3. Scroll the list of Tour Stops and tap the restaurant name you are visiting.
  4. Click Scan QR Code to check in.
    If it’s your first entry, create an account with your name and email address, or log in to your existing account, and then look for a confirmation email where you will click on the “magic” link to return to the app and resume the process.
  5. Once you have checked in look for the Objective Completed! notification on the restaurant you visited.
  6. Repeat at other participating restaurants to increase your chances to win!

The app can be used year-round to help residents and visitors find downtown shops, recreation and arts activities, services, lodging, events and more.
