King and Queen County Motorists will be glad to know that beginning today, they will not be facing a 10 mile detour.
VDOT says the bridge on Route 621, Bruington Road, in King and Queen County over Dogwood Fork will open to traffic on today (Dec 18) after a bridge maintenance project. The detour of approximate 10-miles which has been in effect since November 1st will be lifted today. Crews will then move to King William County to close Route 604, Herring Creek Road, in the Aylett area to complete similar work to the bridge over Herring Creek. Herring Creek Road will close today to through traffic between Route 628, Dorrell Road, and Route 600, West River Road, for approximately four months. The signed detour route is approximately 10-miles. Weather permitting, Herring Creek Road is expected to reopen to traffic by March 1, 2024.
